General Accessibility Information

Know What to Expect at the Park

Contact Guest Services in advance of your visit to discuss services and options. We’re happy to help you plan for your visit.

Accessible Parking

Parking for guests with disabilities is available with a valid disability parking permit.

Wheelchair & Stroller Accessibility

Wheelchair accessible venues include Blue Heron Overlook, Village Plaza, Ticket Atrium, Village Gift Shop, Back Porch Dining, Restrooms, Castle Café, and the Castle Front Porch.

Due to natural formations, narrow passages and small groupings of steps, the cavern is not wheelchair or stroller accessible.

Historic Lookout Mountain Tower viewing decks built prior to modern accessibility standards are accessed only by stairs and are not wheelchair or stroller accessible. Blue Heron Overlook is wheelchair accessible.

Mobility

Cave Walk, Lantern Tour and History Tour guests should have the ability to stand for 1.5 hours and keep pace with their tour group.

The Gentle Walking Tour moves along the cavern trail at a slower pace set by the group with several opportunities to rest on benches along the cavern trail while your guide shares in-depth information.

Due to natural formations, narrow passages and small groupings of steps, the cavern is not wheelchair or stroller accessible.

Zipline and climbing wall participants need functional use of hands and feet, the mobility and strength to climb stairs and stand unassisted, and cognitive ability to understand instructions, rules and safety regulations associated with the activity.

Sensory Information

As you might imagine, our park offers sensory stimulation including crowds, darkness, low and varied levels of lighting in the cavern, noises, colored and changing lighting, narrow cavern passages, music with volume changes during the waterfall light show, group tours, enclosed areas and close proximity with other guests in confined areas.

Ruby Falls offers a Low Sensory Cave Walk for guests requiring a low-sensory experience. The tour is available by request with a minimum of two weeks advance notice. Low Sensory Cave Walk options include a smaller group size, reduced or eliminated audio presentations, and time at the waterfall without color-changing lights and music. For more information or to book a Low Sensory Cave Walk, click the button below and complete the Contact Us form.

Visual Considerations

We recommend guests with light sensitivities, including photosensitivity and seizure disorder, consult with your physician before visiting. Specialty lighting and other visual effects are used in the cave and during the waterfall light show. Guests will experience darkness, low and varied levels of lighting throughout the cave.  Flash photography is permitted in the cave.

Allergy Statement

Allergy Statement: Please note, environmental and food allergen exposure at Ruby Falls is similar to any city environment. As a natural attraction, Ruby Falls is unable to identify with absolute certainty, remove all potential triggers or limit allergens that may be brought by other guests. Tree nuts and peanuts are roasted on property. Cafe menu items may contain or come into contact with WHEAT, EGGS, PEANUTS, TREE NUTS, SOY, and MILK, as food is not prepared in a separate allergen-free kitchen. Please contact us if you need additional information and assistance.

Service Animals

We have specific guidelines to ensure guests with service animals are supported throughout their visit. Please note:

  •  A service animal is a dog or miniature horse that has been individually trained to do work or perform tasks for an individual with a disability.
  • Service animals must be under the control of the owner at all times and should remain on a leash, tethered, or in a harness.
  • Only trained service animals are permitted in the cave and indoor venues.  Our onsite kennels are available seasonally at no charge on a first-come, first-serve basis for emotional support animals, comfort animals and pets.
  • Service animals must be housebroken. Service animals are required to behave and not bark, growl, jump up on or lunge at other guests or team members. Service animals may not jump up on cave walls and ancient formations.
  • Service animals must remain on the floor and not on dining chairs or tables in food and beverage locations.
  • Corrective action must be taken by the animal’s handler if the service animal is not behaving appropriately.
