Year of Wonder Begins With A New Waterfall Light Show

2018 brings new adventures to Ruby Falls, starting with a new performance of light and sound at the celebrated waterfall! Here’s what to expect with the new multi-sensory waterfall experience.
The show is designed to highlight the incredible beauty of the etched stone surrounding the waterfall and the effects of thousands of years of water flow in the cave. To achieve this goal, the creators doubled the number of LED light fixtures in the cave, giving the capability to project millions of colors, producing the exact hues and shadows necessary to clarify the dimensional stone texture.
The use of LED lighting supports Ruby Falls sustainable business practices as it consumes minimal energy. LED light fixtures also keep the temperature stable in the cave, which is a vital part of preserving the fragile cave ecosystem.
The designer of the show, Ghost Lights Studios, developed a rich music score for the waterfall experience, choreographing it with lighting effects to direct guest attention to distinctive, previously unseen aspects of the expansive waterfall section of the cave.
Of course, the waterfall is the centerpiece and star of the extended show. All of the new elements give guests a better understanding of the enormity of this area of the cave and the profound power of nature. It isn’t unusual for guests to be moved to tears, awed into silence or even cheer as they experience the beauty of the waterfall with the new show. Nature has a beautiful way of tapping into our sense of wonder and awe from being a part of something much larger than ourselves.
The waterfall show runs daily and is included in the traditional waterfall tour and Extended Cavern Experience. For more information about Ruby Falls, visit http://www.rubyfalls.com/ or follow us on social media.
